శివ భుజంగ ప్రయాత స్తోత్రం - కృతార్థత

అయం దానకాలస్త్వహం దాన పాత్రం
భవన్నాథ దతా త్వదన్యం న యాచే
భవద్భక్తిమేవ స్థిరాం దేహి మహ్యం
కృపాశీల శంభో కృతార్థో'స్మి తస్మాత్

ayam dAnakAlaH = This is the right time for giving (dAna)
aham dAna pAtram = I am the right person to receive the dAna.
bhavan nAtha dAta = thou the Lord are the giver (dAta)
tvad anyam na yAcE = I do not ask for anything other than thou
bhavd bhaktim Eva sthirAm dEhi mahyam = give me the ONLY "unwavering devotion towards you"
kRpASIla SambhO = O SambhO!  the most compassionate one (one whose attitude is compassion!)
kRtarthH+asmi tasmAt = by that alone I will be fulfilled.

O the most compassionate Lord SambhO! "right now" is the best time to give dAna. Thou the great giver. Me the right one to receive the dAna. I do not beg for anything other than thou (tvadanyam na yAcE). Give me the strong devotion (sthiram bhakti) towards you. I will become "one who has achieved the goal" (kRtArtha) just by that.

త్రయీ సాంఖ్యం యోగః పశుపతిమతం వైష్ణవమితి

రుచీనాం వైచిత్ర్యాదృజుకుటిల నానాపథజుషాం
నృణామేకో గమ్యస్త్వమసి పయసామర్ణవ ఇవ||7||

त्रयी साङ्ख्यं योगः पशुपतिमतं वैष्णवमिति
प्रभिन्ने प्रस्थाने परमिदमदः पथ्यमिति च।
रुचीनां वैचित्र्यादृजुकुटिल नानापथजुषां
नृणामेको गम्यस्त्वमसि पयसामर्णव इव॥ ७॥

క్షమా దానం క్షమా సత్యం క్షమా యజ్ఞః చ పుత్రికాః
క్షమా యశః క్షమా ధర్మః క్షమయాం విష్ఠితం జగత్

క్షమ యే దానము, క్షమ యే సత్యము, క్షమ యే యజ్ఞము ఓ పుత్రికలారా!
క్షమ యే కీర్తి, క్షమ యే ధర్మము, క్షమ చేత నిలుప బడుతున్నదీ జగత్తు.

8b, 9a. kSamaa daanam = grace [forgiveness] is, altruism; kSamaa yaj~naH = grace is, ritualism; putrikaaH = oh, daughters; kSamaa yashaH = grace is, glory; kSamaa dharmaH = grace is, virtue; kSamaa satyam [hi] = grace is, truth, [isn't it]; kSamaayaam jagat vi SThitam = in graciousness, universe is, verily, abiding.

 

" 'Grace is altruism, grace is ritualism, oh, my daughters, grace is glory, grace is virtue, and this universe is verily abiding in graciousness alone for grace itself is the truth, isn't it!' Thus king Kushanaabha said to his daughters and sent them away. [1-33-8b, 9a]

వర్షార్థమష్టౌ ప్రయతేత మాసా న్నిశార్థ మర్థం దివసం యతేత
వార్ధక్య హేతో ర్వయసా నవేన పరత్ర హేతో రిహజన్మనా చ

వానకాలమునకు వలసినవి యెల్ల నార్జింపవలయు మాసాష్టకమున
రాత్రులకొనరు నర్థములెన్ని యన్నియు ఘటియింపవలయు బగళ్ళ యంద
అపరవయో యోగ్యమగు వస్తుజాలంబు సాధింపవలయును జవ్వనమున
పరలోకమునకు సంపాద్యమెయ్యది యది గడియింపవలయు నీ యొడలియంద

varshArthamashTau prayatEta mAsA nniSArtha martham divasam yatEta
vArdhakya hEtO rvayasA navEna paratra hEtO rihajanmanA ca

One has to attempt to attain all the things needed for rainy season in the rest eight months, things needed for the night to be attained during the day time, whatever is needed for old age to be attained during the working age and whatever needed for heaven (para lOkam) during this very lifespan.

గువ్వలచెన్న శతకము

నిత్యానిత్యము లెఱుఁగుచు సత్యంబగుదానిఁ దెలిసి సత్కృత్యములన్‌
నిత్యముజేయుచు దశదిక్స్తుత్యముగా మెలఁగుమన్న గువ్వలచెన్నా! 59

ఎప్పటికైనను మృత్యువు తప్పదని యెఱింగియుండి తగినచికిత్సం
దప్పింప నెఱుఁగకత్తఱి గుప్పున నేడ్చెదరదేల? గువ్వలచెన్నా! 104
 
జరయును మృత్యువు మొదలుగ మరలఁగ రాకుండునట్టి మార్గంబేదో
గురుతెఱుఁగఁ జేయుమని శ్రీ గురుగురుని భజియింపవలయు గువ్వలచెన్నా! 105

పరమార్థము నొక్కటెఱిఁగి నరుఁడు చరింపంగవలయు నలువురిలోఁ బా

Having understood what is permanent and what is temporary, having realized the TRUTH, performing righteous deeds always, conduct yourself in a way that all ten directions praise O guvvala cenna! (59)

Having known that death is inevitable, not trying to cure it all the way, why do people cry post mortem? O guvvala cenna! (104)

To get the right direction to the path of non repetition of old age and death, one should pray to a realized sage for rightly recognizing such a path. O guvvala cenna! (105)

Having realized the ultimate truth, one should carryout the worldly transactions as if knowing nothing but not losing the focus from that ultimate ONE. O guvvala cenna! (106)

సదానందయోగి శతకము

శివుఁడు జీవుండు రెండువస్తువు లటంచు
నిచ్చ నెంచిన సాయుజ్య మెట్లు కల్గు?
శివశివా భేద మన్నది సేయరాదు,
నవ్యతరభోగి శ్రీసదానందయోగి.

నీట వెలసినలవణంబు నీటఁ గలియు
నీరు గాకుండ దారీతి నిశ్చయముగ;
శివుని దలఁచిన జీవుండు శివుఁడు గాఁదె,
నవ్యతరభోగి శ్రీసదానందయోగి.

ద్గ్రంథాఖ్యాపనముల్ నపుంసకవధూకాంక్షల్ కృతఘ్నావళీ
బంధుత్వంబులు భస్మహవ్యములు లుబ్ధద్రవ్యముల్ క్రోడస
ద్గంధంబుల్ హరిభక్తి వర్జితుల రిక్తవ్యర్థసంసారముల్.

---ప్రహ్లాదుడు హిరణ్యకశిపునితో, భాగవతం, సప్తమ స్కంధం నుంచి

andha indUdayamu = a beautiful moon rise to a blind man
mahA badhira SankhArAvamu = a wonderful sound generated by blowing a conch shell to a completely deaf man
mUka sadgrandha AkhyApanamu = teaching great oratory works to a dumb person
napumsaka vadhU kAnksha = the desire of searching a bride for an impotent one
kRtaghnAvaLI bandhutvamulu = the relationships where the help is always ignored (and not returned in any way!)
bhasma havyamulu = trying to pour ash into a fire sacrifice
lubdha dravyamulu = the monies accumulated by a miser
krODa sadgandhamulu = the fragrance applied to a pig

All the above are the examples of achievements and lives of those who are devoid of devotion to Lord SrI hari which are hallow and useless.
