A bee roaming in the garden with lot of new flower creepers,
it did not smell the best smelling sampangi flower;
Is that flower is not enjoyable? Nor the bee do not know to enjoy?

1. A crow do not enjoy in the garden of lotus ponds; A swan can't enjoy in a small pit of water. A fool will not enjoy the company of wise; a servant can't hold the throne of a leader. Wicked one can't bear pious people and works for wicked only. Each one follows the character as per their own nature and hardly give up on "prakRti"

2. A tiger enjoys in the deep forest, a lion enjoys the cave, a swan enjoys on the lotus flowers, a hawk enjoys in the burial ground. People with soft nature enjoy in the company of soft people and wicked enjoy among wicked. Each one follows the character as per their own nature and hardly can give up on "prakRti"

yA yasya prakRtiH svabhAva janitA kEnApi na tyajatE - Above two verses show the difficulty of giving up one's own nature. Everyone thus should focus on building right character considering the fact!

Above three samskruta subhAshita gives three examples of how accomplishment of task depends on the inner strength irrespective of how weak the environmental support one has.

1. what has to be conquered is Lanka, Ocean has to be crossed by foot, opponent is the great son of pulastya, the army is only monkeys; even then the RAMA, single handed won over the mighty rAkshasas.

2. The chariot has only one wheel, seven horses are tied to it by snakes, the path is sky without any directions, the driver has no legs; even then the SUN traverses the horizon every day.

3. Birth place is a pot (a test tube!), followers are animals, dress is made up of bark of birch plant, living place is forest, eats only bulbous roots, body is short; even then sage agasthya was able to take the water form all the oceans in his palm.

"kriyAsiddhiH sattvE bhavati mahatAm nOpakaraNE"
Hence, the accomplishment of great people depends purely on their innate strength and not on the helping tools or support from outside.

1. Early in the morning, I think of one who removes the fear of world, lord of gods, who holds river ganga in in locks, rides the ox, husband of divine mother, holds khatvAnga, SUla, varada and abhaya mudras in hands, Isa i.e lord - The medicine to cure the disease of samsAra! who has no second!!

2. Early in the morning I bow down to the dweller of mountains having half of body occupied by the daughter of mountain who is the cause of beginning, middle and the end; Originator, Lord, conqueror of the universe; The medicine to cure the disease of samsAra!  who has no second!!

3. Early in the morning I sing about auspiciousness, one, having no end or beginning, only known through the upanishads vEdAnta, sinless, the mightiest being, who has no distinctions by the means of names or forms, who is devoid of six transformations of (birth, growth, sustenance, disease, decay and death); The medicine to cure the disease of samsAra!  who has no second!!

Having woken up early, thinking of Siva, WHO recites the above three verses every day; THEY get rid of misery collected over multiple lifespans, attain THAT ultimate abode of auspiciousness of Sambhu.

karmaNi akarma yaH paSyat akarmaNi ca karma yaH;
saH buddhimAn manushyEshu saH yuktaH kRtsna-karma-kRt.

One who sees inaction in action; also sees action in inaction. Such wise person, a yOgi becomes accomplished in all actions!

1. Seeing inaction in action: Today's world everyone is busy. No one seems to have time even to think. But what is the outcome of such "busyness"? Is there any real everlasting result is gained? Each person should think about "What is action?" and "What is inaction?" and how to reconcile action and inaction.

Action is performance of duties. Inaction is keeping the mind still. Seeing inaction in action is to perform duties unperturbed while mind firmly on God.

2. Seeing action in inaction: There is a large amount of lethargy and laziness in the world as well. Is it the stillness? One should think about such inaction as well. Sitting idle at some place expecting and being anxious about results or worrying about past is not "inaction" there is lot of mental action involved in it.

Having proper understanding of "inaction" i.e., removal of anxiety and worry and the ability to see such hidden mental action that makes one very very tired is seeing action in inaction.

One who can achieve perfection in both seeing inaction in action and action in inaction is wise! (buddhimAn-manushya) also a yOgi (yuktaH which means balanced, intellegent)

3. Accomplished all actions: Fulfilled all action, attained the ultimate result of all actions! Completed all actions. ALL ACTIONS!!

Such a sage is the one who has completed all actions and attained the ultimate!

When there is lotus feet of guru, when there is boundless compassion in his glance and when there is his teaching (whatsoever if there is, other than the graceful silence!); What else greater need for fulfilment of life?

Samkara bhagavatpAdAcArya stated this in his work svAtma nirUpaNam. Remembering my Guru who made my life fulfilled by his divine grace on the eve of 65th vardhanti of ananta SrI vibhUshita bhAratI tIrtha mahAswami, current SankarAcArya of SringEri SAradA pITham.

Let one and all make their lives fruitful i.e, achieve 'janma sAphalyam' by the teachings of unbroken lineage of gurus!

Sambhu i.e, the lord of transformation, svayambhu the lord of creation and hari the lord of sustainability; this trinity also been made to work for their ladies pArvati, saraswati and lakshmi by the power of that lord who is having makara dhvajam (manmadha i.e., the lord of desire) and whose ability and history can't be described in words, for him I bow down!

While the crescent moon adorned on the forehead appears like the tip of the fire and the manmadha (god of desires) falls in it like a locust being burnt away; the internal ignorance which is completely removed by the light emitted within the minds of yOgis, let the victory be to the light of knowledge in the form of Hara i.e, the supreme lord!

SivarAtri of SrI jaya year

dik kAla Adi anavicchinna ananta cinmAtra mUrtayE
svAnubhUti Eka mAnAya namaH SAntAya tEjasE

dik means directions representing space, kAla means time representing time in the form of past, present and future; Adi means starting. So, starting with space and time, every other physical element that makes up this world

anavacchinna means uninterrupted, unsplit, uncut, undivided; chinna is to break, split and interrupt, an- prefix negates it

ananta cinmAtra means infinite consciousness; anta means end, an- prefix makes it unending i.e., infinite and cit is consciousness mAtra emphasises 'nothing but' making cinmAtra is nothing but consciousness.
mUrti is the form

sva-anubhUti means one's own realization (other than external sense perception or inference of mind) based on intution. Eka mAnAya = measurable only by such realization

namaH = (I) bow down in reverence

SAntAya tEjasE is that peaceful splendour, brilliance, light (I have described peace on medium)

So, the meaning of above verse is: I bow down to that peaceful brilliance which is infinity conscious beyond divisions of space and time, that can only be realized by one's own self experience!

Such brilliance appears on every mAgha kRshna catrudaSi midnight which we call and celebrate as mahA SivarAtri. Wishing one and all an auspicious SivarAtri...
